    The study here presented aims to understand the pathways of persistent students in distance higher education, contributing to the identification of relevant factors for their promotion. A survey by questionnaire was applied to students of the Open University, Portugal (Universidade Aberta), characterizing, among other aspects, the individual dimension of permanent students. The elements considered within this dimension were based on the learning styles theory. The online learning styles were analyzed, as was their pedagogical importance and contributions to the development of learning and teaching strategies.

    O estudo apresentado tem como objetivo geral compreender os percursos de persistência dos estudantes do ensino superior a distância, contribuindo para a identificação de fatores relevantes para a sua promoção. Aplicou-se a estudantes da Licenciatura em Educação da Universidade Aberta, Portugal, um inquérito por questionário, que caracteriza entre outros aspetos a dimensão individual dos estudantes permanentes. Os elementos considerados nesta dimensão foram elaborados com base na teoria dos estilos de aprendizagem. Desenvolvemos a vertente dos estilos de aprendizagem no online, a sua importância pedagógica e contribuições para o desenvolvimento de estratégias de ensino e aprendizagem.
