Resumen de Histomanía: un ambiente virtual para despertar el interés en la historia

  Heritage Park es un proyecto educativo que abre un canal hacia el pasado con tecnología en red despertando y motivando en los jóvenes estudiantes el interés por la teoría y método de la historia. Para los profesores, es un apoyo en la aplicación de las nuevas tecnologías en las lecciones de historia. Desarrolla unos conceptos pedagógicos que hemos diseñado para controlar el medio educativo virtual desde una aproximación holística. Así, el medio es una combinación de manejo de información y de herramientas on-line (chat) y off-line (grupos de interés, e-mail). Su principal objetivo es desarrollar una comunidad voluntaria, tan habitual en el medio virtual, de libre entrada y consulta, aunque orientada a hacerla tan interesante que los visitantes se conviertan en socios, dándoles acceso a opciones. La participación incluye diversas opciones, desde la incorporación a grupos de discusión, en proyectos, competiciones, concursos, etc... Los socios deben ser activos y, de ellos, los más regulares podrán entrar en el Heritage Club, el cual acredita actuar como guía y asesor. Nuestro planteamiento arranca del libre acceso al conocimiento histórico. Por ello, tratamos de formar un consejo asesor de historiadores que cohesione investigación y enseñanza. El programa tiene cuatro componentes: - Centro de Recursos: dirigido a estudiantes que quieran hacer trabajos y proyectos, y a profesores que buscan fuentes primarias para sus clases. Dada nuestra definición de la historia como suma de informaciones acumuladas a lo largo del tiempo, que son analizadas por los historiadores, las fuentes y la investigación son sus principales contenidos. La presencia del consejo asesor permite interrogar o pedir explicaciones sobre el material. Además, nexos con otros Websites permiten aumentar los conocimientos y conocer otros puntos de vista. - Centro Asesor: sirve a estudiantes y profesores en función de sus necesidades. Los grupos de interés permiten al profesor realizar preguntas de carácter pedagógico sobre implantación de materiales. También se exige que se aporten ideas, trucos, etc., creándose un archivo FAQ para cada grupo. Los estudiantes pueden participar en foros que discuten acontecimientos actuales desde una perspectiva histórica. El tablón de idea de los estudiantes tiene libre acceso. - La Máquina del Tiempo: la "máquina" emplea principios de juego y diversión aplicados a actividades: preguntas y respuestas, puzzles, historias de misterio etc. que toman forma en el contexto. Los usuarios crean una línea temporal cooperativa bajo el título "hoy hace cien años". Previamente, se creó, un mes antes, un panel de datos con los acontecimientos y fuentes empleadas. Traducida al inglés, participan usuarios de todo el mundo, incluidos alumnos y profesores. - Heritage Club: formado por los socios de más actividad, son mentores de nuevos socios y actúan como guías. Participan en los grupos de discusión multilaterales (estudiantes, profesores, padres e historiadores) sobre temas de historia y educación. Como miembros, pueden proponer ideas para desarrollar, o evaluar propuestas de los no- miembros. En mi conferencia, expondré los conceptos subyacentes en el proyecto, su estructura y las actividades realizadas en los últimos meses.

  The Heritage Park is an educational endeavor to open a channel to the past by using network technology. Thus developing the awareness and motivation of young students to historical events and research methods and support teachers willing to integrate technological developments in history lessons. The Park is implementing some educational concepts we developed for managing an educational virtual environment intended to. It is based on a holistic approach to virtual environments. By that we mean that the environment should be a combination of information handling and of on-line (chat) and off-line (interest groups, e-mail) tools. Developing a community is the main feature of the Park. As common in virtual environments the membership is volunteer. Visitors might be guest and look over the materials, but we hope that guests will find the place interesting enough to register as members. Members differ from guest by the options offered, for instance to participate in discussion groups, in projects, in competitions and turneries etc. Members are supposed to be active and those who are active regularly are accepted to the Heritage Club and are entitled to act as guides and advisors. We assume that the knowledge of historians should be open to teachers and students as well. That is why we try to build an advisory board of historians that will create a bond between research and schools. The Park is comprised of four components: The Resources Center - The center is intended for students who wish to prepare papers or presentations as school projects and for teachers who look for primary sources for building their lessons. We define history as the sum of information accumulated and interpreted through the years by historians. Therefore, primary sources as well as historical research are the main content of the resource center. Having professional historians as an advisory board enables the visitors to ask questions or explanations related to the material in the center. Likewise, links to other related sites on the net enable the visitors to expand their knowledge and to encounter different points of view. The Advisory Center - The center serves teachers and students according to needs defined by the members. Interest groups enable teachers to discuss pedagogical questions related to the implementation of learning materials. Participants are requested to contribute ideas, tips, questions etc. and a FAQ file is created for each group. Students might participate in interest groups discussing actual events in an historical perspective. Any group might use a bulletin board of students' ideas. The Time Machine - The "machine" is an effort to use edutainment principles. It includes various activities like riddles, puzzles, mystery stories to solve etc. that took the form of a contest. A collaborative time-line is created by users under the name: "To-day - hundred years ago". It is a time-line chart that users create by sending a month before the date the events they relate to it and quoting the information source, they used. This time-line will be also in English so that people from various places will participate. This activity is open for all: teachers and students as well. The Heritage Club includes members who proved themselves as active members. They will be coaches of new members, guides to guests, participate in mingled discussion groups (students, teachers, parents, and historians) and talk over issues in history and in education as well. Club members will propose new ideas to be developed in the Park and evaluate ideas proposed by non-members. In my presentation I would like to discusss the concepts behind the Park, presents its structure and in addition, describe activities that took place in the last months.
