Color i luminescència de fluorites de Catalunya: 1a part: el color

    The aim of the present work has been to study the colour of a set of fluorites that, although it does not cover all the localities where this mineral is found in Catalonia, is quite representative.

    First, the localities from which the samples were obtained are described, referring to the geological context and the most important fluorite characteristics of each deposit. The possible causes of their colours are discussed below, the reversible or irreversible colour change they suffer in sunlight and UV radiation, the coloration caused by accelerated electron bombardment as well as the colour change observed in blue-violet fluorite samples when observed under different light sources.

    Given to the wide scope of the issue, discussion of the luminescence of these fluorite specimens has been reserved for a second part to be published in the next issue of this magazine.

    L’objectiu d’aquest article és l’estudi del color d’un conjunt de fluorites que, encara que no abasti ni de bon tros totes les localitats on es troba aquest mineral a Catalunya, n’es prou representatiu.

    En primer lloc es descriuen els jaciments d’on s’han obtingut les mostres, fent referència al context geològic i a les característiques més importants de la fluorita de cadascun dels jaciments. A continuació es discuteixen les possibles causes dels seus colors, el canvi de color irreversible o reversible que pateixen a la llum del sol i la radiació UV, la coloració que es provoca en el bombardeig amb electrons accelerats així com el canvi de color que s’observa en les fluorites blaves-violetes quan s’observen sota diferents fonts llumíniques.
