    Pintar la ciudad, representarla o participar en los procesos de construcción de su imagen, ha sido una realidad que ha formado parte consustancial de la historia urbana desde sus orígenes, como autoafirmación de quienes las ocupan y reflejo de quienes de una u otra forma se han sentido atraídos, seducidos o atrapados por ellas. Así, las imágenes urbanas creadas por los artistas pondrán de manifiesto el protagonismo que pintores, escultores, grabadores, fotógrafos o cineastas han tenido en la construcción de la cultura moderna de las ciudades. Estas miradas cruzadas al paisaje urbano, críticas o creativas, objetivas o imaginadas, revelarán las contradicciones propias de la ciudad como espacio de relación social, poniendo de manifiesto sus valores, sus significados, a la vez que condicionando la apreciación que de las mismas tienen los ciudadanos que, convertidos en espectadores, analizan y ven la ciudad a partir de sus imágenes plásticas.

    Painting the city, representing it or participating in the processes of building its image, has been a reality that has been a part of urban history since its origins, as a self-affirmation of those who occupy them and a reflection of those who in one way or another have felt attracted, seduced or trapped by them. Thus, the urban images created by the artists will highlight the role that painters, sculptors, engravers, photographers and filmmakers have had in the construction of the modern culture of cities. These crossed views of the urban landscape, critical or creative, objective or imagined, will reveal the contradictions inherent in the city as a space of social relation, highlighting its values, its meanings, and at the same time conditioning the appreciation that they have the citizens who, turned into spectators, analyze and see the city from their plastic images.
