Resumen de El diccionario de lenguajes sectoriales

Cecilio Garriga Escribano

  • The phrase “sectoral language” refers to a part of language that is difficult to define and for which other labels essentially referring to the same thing are used. However, intuitively there is little doubt that there is a portion of language with greater representativeness in the lexicon, generating important lexicographical activity, and thus it requires special attention in language education. In this paper the various denominations competing with “sectoral language” are examined, different types of sectoral language dictionaries are viewed, the repercussions of sectoral languages in formal education and in Spanish as a foreign language teaching are studied, and the type of information that can be found in sectoral language dictionaries as well as their usefulness in the classroom are probed.
