Resumen de El deporte europeo en la crisis del siglo XX. Un palimpsesto posmoderno

  En este artículo se plantea un ensayo interpretativo que vincula el deporte con la idea de crisis a lo largo del siglo xx. Así pues, y a modo de palimpsesto, se rastrean los principios genealógicos que nos han conducido de la modernidad a la hipermodernidad que, en determinados ambientes, se identifica con la posmodernidad, en el sentido de que sigue a la crisis de la modernidad (1914-1945). Con este objetivo, se establecen una serie de períodos históricos a partir del uso de la simbología que recurre al uso de las cruces. De este modo, la cruz latina representa el período que siguió a la Primera Guerra Mundial y que se extiende entre 1919 y 1932; la cruz gamada corresponde a los años del nazismo (1933-1945); la cruz cristiana debilitada –algo parecido a la letra tau del alfabeto griego– domina los años de 1945 a 1967 mientras que, a partir de 1968, en dos etapas sucesivas (1968-1989 y 1990-2007), se impone la cruz en aspa similar a la letra X. Se trata, en definitiva, de un estudio de corte hermenéutico que pretende poner de manifiesto los vínculos entre la historia del deporte y la historia cultural, sin olvidar algunos referentes de la historia de la educación, relativos a la teoría de la formación humana.

  This article brings up an interpretive essay linking sport with the idea of crisis throughout the twentieth century. Thus, by way of palimpsest, it traces the genealogical principles that have led us from modernity to hypermodernity that in certain environments is identified with postmodernity, in the sense that follows the crisis of modernity (1914-1945). To this end, a number of historical periods are set on the basis of the symbology drawing on the use of crosses. Through this, the Latin cross represents the period following World War I and extending between 1919 and 1932; the swastika corresponds to the years of Nazism (1933-1945); the weakened Christian cross –something like the letter tau of the Greek alphabet– dominates the years from 1945 to1967; whereas from 1968 and in two successive stages (1968-1989 and 1990-2007), the X-shaped cross prevails. In short, this is a study with a hermeneutical approach that aims to highlight the links between the history of sport and cultural history, without forgetting some references to the history of education concerning the theory of human formation.
