Durante anos experimentos baixo terra, en particular os relacionados coa física dos neutrinos, teñen producido resultados que non eramos quen de explicar de xeito consistente dentro do marco teórico do Modelo Estándar da Física de Partículas. Para tentar resolver ese misterio durante as últimas décadas un conxunto de novos e máis sofisticados experimentos teñen sido iniciados. Un deles é o LSC ubicado no pirineo aragonés. Os resultados destes experimentos poden ser considerados os máis significantes en física de partículas dos últimos anos, e teñen xerado evidencias de que o Modelo Estándar debe ser ampliado

For years some underground experiments, particularly those related to neutrino physics, have been producing results unexplainable within the theoretical framework we had built so far known as: The Standard Model of Particle Physics. In order to try to solve these puzzles, during the past few decades a set of new and more sophisticated experiments have been set into action. One of them is the Underground Laboratory of Canfranc (LSC), located in the Pyrenees (Aragon, Spain). The results of these experiments may be considered the most significant in particle physics in the past few years and have delivered the most important evidence that the Standard Model needs to be extended
